Art Journal

So, I have been saying for ages that I want to have a go at doing an Art Journal and I keep putting it off. I saw this art pad at Hobby craft in the sale for £5.50 - couldn't put it off any longer and to show my commitment, I bought two!

How scary are those White pages !!
I got out the gelliplate to help . I love that a whole page is coverd so quickly and all in one go or in a couple of layers.

This is a couple of prints over the top of each other directly onto the page, half way there :).

I cleaned my paint roller off on two pages ( to be used later)

This is another print from the gelliplate. Having the begginings of a few pages gave me more confidence to make a start.

Back to the first page- I added some paste coloured with acrylic paint though a Tim Holtz crackle stencil in random areas.

Then painted some of the "crackles" with silver and white.

I stamped and painted a butterfly to cut out later onto another gelliprint.

And used distress stains on a some piece of text paper to die cut into hexagons.
Here they are added to the page and shaded with blue jeans distress stain and a little festive berries.

I painted a little white acrylic paint to highlight each piece and smudged a black pencil to shade.

I added two butterflies and some text - just a small amount for the first page.

I shaded around each butterfly with the new ground coffee distress pen and added glossy accents to the words.
I added a little glitter to the large butterfly.

So here is my very first proper art journal page ( in a journal) done .

Sorry about all the photo's .

Soojay xx

  4. WOW!!! I have to admit that I wanted to try my hand at art journaling but wasn't brave enough to buy a 'decent' journal, so I invested one whole pound for a cheap art book in Poundland lol. I'm holding up my hand to admit that my journal STILL looks like your first photo and I've had it for almost a year now!! Yes...I'm a coward lol. xx
