Oh this is brilliant I love it! and I can identify with everything you said as I have only been drawing since end of August - ( I got book by Jane Davenport on drawing faces and can't stop) Started with the Reeves pastels too but all this month have been trying different ones as wanted to see which were best for less dust, good for blending and less breaking. Just counted up and found 9 differents brands - ooops! Last week my birthday present came (I'm good and put it away) a box of 60 half sticks of Rembrandt soft pastels - now have to wait til end of November :( Also been trying out different papers to see what works with what as it seems to me that makes a difference - proper paper for pastels, cartridge - all very confusing at present. Have fun and I shall be looking out for your work.. sorry if I've gone on a bit :) Gill xx
Hi Sue, Wow...for a first attempt it's fantastic. I love the big, green eyes, they are very captivating. I wish I could draw, my nephew Mike (Gwyn's son) has a natural, God-given talent for all things art. I'm glad I've got such a talented relative lol. Keep up the good work, Sue. It sounds like pastel work can be quite technical, making sure you have the right pastels and the right paper. Hey, you are only going to get better and better. Bejay x
Its me again - sorry to bother you - but your face is so lovely - I had a thought - it would be great if you joined in Kim Dellows 'show your face' http://www.kimdellow.co.uk/2015/09/show-your-face_25.html I was encouraged and joined in for first time on Friday. Gill x
Oh love! She is fabulous and for a first attempt with pastels too! Beautiful! I've not tried pastels yet. Might have to give it a go at some point. Thanks so much for joining Show Your Face and for the shout out too. Kx

You are too kind. I will link up. I will have another go - this one only took 5 mins- maybe if I spewnt a bit more time , I could get better results.

ReplyDeleteso soft and sweet...lovely face!
ReplyDeleteI love the soft pastel look, and there's a real warmth in her eyes. If that only took 5 minutes, then it's a marvel!
