Playing with wax

There is a new challenge over at Paperartsy to use wax in your project. As I have some wax left over from making beauty products last year , I melted it up to play with. I DO love to try out new things.

I first tore up pieces of junk mail to cover my page, then I added some patterned tissue paper from a wrapped present, I also added some used paper towel. Then I painted the whole lot with white gesso.

Next I stuck down two of  Tim Holtz idealogy photos and then went for it with the wax.
I dropped in some clear plastic beads and tiny sequins.

Next, I found some wax crayons which I heated with my heat gun and dripped onto the page. I used pink , purple and white.

When still warm , I applied some silver foil to a couple of areas and then buffed it with a tissue.

It's a bit dark this evening so the foil is difficult to see .

I think this area is my fav as I love the swirled colours and the fact that you can still see some of the tissue and papers underneath.

If you would like to join in with the challenge, Pop over to Paperartsy to see some wonderful inspiration and details of how to enter.

  2. Hi Sue,
What fun! and a great way to get rid of some junk mail. The finished page looks great! I'm not doing too much right now. My Crazy Cats dies arrived yesterday (£17.99 from Oyster Stamps). They arrived a month early...yay! Trouble is, the stamp set that should have been sent out last week still hasn't arrived (£16.99 from Oyster Stamps) so I can't play yet. I wonder if I can find some wax to melt while I wait lol.

  3. This is gorgeous Sue. I had a look at your latest post but wanted to look at the original piece. The texture you have since added just adds to this beauty. Well done you.
As for Rupert, he is one of my longest serving bears and will never leave me!!!
