Not as messy as last week ( still needs a tidy). There is a big pile of new(ish) pattern papers and card stock hidden up underneath the "stuck" sketch - I AM going to start this today ...ha ha!
I am lucky enough to still be on holiday from school but don't be fooled into thinking I am not doing much- having three adults with "extra needs" in the house means there is LOADS of organising to do and appointments to attend.
Anyway - do I really need another hobby ?? Ha Ha - yes! The above object is a beading loom and as well as the wrap bracelets I made last week, I have just completed my first loom bracelet.
I am quite pleased with it and will be making more ( when the new beads arrive - Shh don't tell hubby) . At least the post packages are smaller than the scrapbook supply ones ;).
To the top right of my desk are some paper clay elements - of course I had to have it - The owl will go on daughters B card later this month .
Right off to hop around the desks.
If you would like to join in - HERE is the starting point.
Quick update
Look what the postie just delivered :
I blame you Julia - seen on your blog last week :D One of the online stores was having a free postage day as well . Looking forward to playing with this later. Much bigger than I thought it would be too .

Brilliant loom beading, I once tried, still a wip and that is from about three years ago. I am hopeless!
ReplyDeleteLove the paperclay especially the owl.
Hugs, Neet 3 xx
Fun stuff there!

Lovely beadwork. Haven't used a loom in years - and no I'm not buying one to add to stash. We have Pat from Spellbound beads in Lichfield coming to our CRUNCH day today - I may ask if there are any deals on ;) Have a good week x Jackie #17
ReplyDeleteI thought it was an instrument of torture on your desk, but no, it's a bead loom!! I've never seen one of those before but I rally love the bracelet you made with it 💖💖. And tidying can wait, enjoy your holiday instead! I laughed when I saw that new stamp, it is all Julia's fault but it really is a pretty one, I bet you'll use it loads!

Ohhh love that stamp, Sue. Bet you can make some beautiful things with that. Your beading is lovely, I've resisted the temptation to start yet another craft, it's very hard though, there are so many gorgeous things out there. Enjoy your holidays if you can.

Well I've learnt something today - I've never seen a beading loom before! The bracelet is beautiful but I can imagine how addictive this could be - I find it hard to resist buying beads (and that's for very small amounts for embroidery) so if I got into beading I'd be off the rails I'm sure! Thanks so much for stopping by my desk, I hope you enjoy the rest of the school holidays,

Well, thats a fine bracelet. And a new hobby I guess. I love it.
ReplyDeleteLol at you being enabled by Julia! Love the bracelet too. Have a great week, hugs, Shaz #9 xx
ReplyDeleteI'm having a lunchtime catch up with my fav blogs today as my curtain cutting assistant came early and I then went on to shorten the dreaded curtains first....they are all done now :-)
ReplyDeleteOh that brought back lots of memories....think I still have a bead loom here somewhere....my girls used to make the bracelets years back :-)

Great beadloom. And your bracelet looks fab. Bracelets are all the fashion so you will make people happy with beaded bracelets.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I love that owl! That will make an awesome birthday card.
Happy WOYWW and thanks for visiting,
Have a great week ahead,
Blessings,
Lisca
I like your new stamp. Your bracket is sooo pretty. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.

Beautiful beading. I've tried that too. lol. Made some beaded earrings and a necklace. I don't think I used a loom. Maybe that's why I haven't done it in a long time.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week

It's OK, it's only one stamp (this time) and I have broad shoulders upon which I carry blame pretty well! You'll love it, I've used mine a lot already, and that's the sign of a good stamp! Love your bracelet...never seen the loom before, thought you had some sort of exercises to do!
ReplyDeletegreat stamp - and love the bracelet. too fiddly for me, but the results are gorgeous. Helen #1
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, I've had a bead loom for a few years & have yet to use it lol. Your bracelet is gorgeous & paper clay is also on my list of to-dos :D

I can't believe that your first bead loomed bracelet - it looks fabulous! Maybe I'll be able to tempt you into trying some bead-weaving at some stage? Do drop me a note if you would like to try it!

PS. You perfectly summed up the bonus of buying beads. They are so easily smuggled into the house in small handbags!
Great job with the bracelet - looks like a lot of concentration and good eyesight would be needed!
ReplyDeleteBernice #13
I love the bracelet! I've got a bead loom and know how much concentration is needed - but how therapeutic and satisfying it is. Happy crafting, Max #26 :-)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean when you say "as if I needed another hobby" - I recently got enticed into Parchment craft because of the Groovi boards (after having said that I would never have the patience to do parchment LOL). Your beading is fabulous.

For your first bracelet that turned out great! And the stamp you got is very cute! You are one busy lady! Thanks for the visit and hope you have a great rest of the week!
ReplyDeleteCarol N #45
Oh lovely busy desk, loving the pink cutting mat too! Said 15 year old has played with the bead loom before, I never got shown how to do it - weirdly enough! Hope you have a good day!
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, thanks for the visit to mine. Sorry I'm a bit late this week but I had a migraine Wednesday afternoon and spent the rest of the day in bed but I'm back now Lol! Great projects on the go today. Happy crafty belated woyww, Angela x 24
ReplyDeleteGreat beading on the bracelet looks very even and great ends added on it. I tried looming after I learned how to bead without one had issues at first with how tight or loose the string went through didn't look as nice as yours hugs Nikki 2
ReplyDeleteA beading loom, how fun! Love the bracelet, never heard of a beading loom, sounds interesting though. Sorry for the late post.
ReplyDeleteLove the stamp too!
Happy creating to you! (What husbands don't know won't hurt them - in the craft world, LOL, kind of goes with Happy wife, Happy Life) :)
