Hammering and mens Jewellery

I ran out of ready made chain, so thought it was time to learn to make my own. I have bought SO much wire anyway. First up is small wire beaded links with a finer wire ( 08. mm gauge) .
I watched this you tube video to learn:

It was fiddly at first but I got the hang of it.
I made this necklace ( av. in my Etsy shop) , with agate and mookite gem stones.

Then came the hammering - I found some pinterest images and just copied them to make the "S" links and clasp.

This time I used a 1mm gauge wire, the hammering work hardens the metal and makes it stronger. I made hubby a necklace.

I also made a bracelet with the thicker wire.
I have been told to get a rubber block to dampen down the noise while I am hammering ....oopps!!

February Tag swap

I managed to join in with the UK Scrappers tag swap for this month. It's been a long time since I had the time to play along.

The prompt for the months was quite easy and we were given the following themes to choose from :
  • Its birth flower is the violet (Viola) and the common primrose (Primula vulgaris).
  • Its birthstone is the amethyst. It symbolizes piety, humility, spiritual wisdom, and sincerity.
  • Its zodiac signs are Aquarius (until February 19) and Pisces (February 20 onwards)

I chose the Amethyst (Feb's birthstone) colours and if you look really close , spring flowers of violet and primrose amongst the mushrooms.

I used a prima doll stamp and paper pieced it. I used water colour paints and distress inks.

Because it is February , had to have a little romance in there and four little pieces of Amethyst attached to each tag.

Using Labradorite today

First up is a Memory wire bracelet. I Love memory wire ( although it can be a bit fiddly to finish off)  because you don't need to worry about sizing as it just wraps around the wrist.

you don't need any fiddly clasps either, I usually just add a pretty gem to the end, in this case a faceted oval labradorite.

The gemstones look so pretty in different lights and are iridescent when they move.

As you probably know by now, I love rosary linking and have used this method either side of that beautiful 925 silver flower to make this 24 inch necklace.

I had run out of chain to finish this off, so made one myself with the silver plated wire. I hammered it to make it more durable and made an "s" hook clasp.

The photos do not do the stones justice.

Spring Gems

Using some of my favourite gemstones and pearls here to make these pretty rosary linked pieces.

Spring green peridots ( the colour always makes me smile) in rondells and Amethyst faceted rounds.

Rosary linked with silver plated wire ans findings.

All the gemstones and pearls are genuine and natural with no treatment.
The earrings also include the flat round pearls.

I love all the colours you see in the pearl nacre.

All available in My etsy shop ( link in side bar)

Morning deskers- rainy dull morning here .
I am working on a Peridot, Amethyst and Pearl necklace and bracelet - this is as far as I got last night.

Some of my Gemstones in that box and about half of the pearls in the jar. The bags contain silver plated copper wire and the black s lon was actually used to repair a bra this morning and try to trap the bone back in - I know - it wont last! and TMI ha ha.

An old Chinese container has my jewellery making tools in it - I need a bigger box!!

To the far right , is  y stamped , painted images for making a few more "journals" for pupils at school. Under that pile somewhere is a pack of new(ish) Kaisercraft papers to scrapbook with - watch this space.

At the back is a jewellery stand that dort gave to me, to put my latest makes until they find a home.
I will hop around later as I am off for coffee with friends from work as its half term ......yayyyyy.
See you later.

If you would like to join in with the desk hop , the details are on Julia's Blog .

Wonky Tonk girl Books

I prepared the backgrounds with distress ink, splattered water, ink sprays and then stencilled distress ink.

The girls were stamped over the top of this and then I used water colours, so that some of the background shows though.

Even the white "dots" in their hair is thick white water colour paint.

I used Winsor and Newton pan paints and Prima decadent pies and twinkling H2O paints.

these will all be made into front covers of note books for pupils at school who come for counselling with me. I will do some plainer ones as well.

More Wonky Tonk Girl stamps

I now have all 4 of the girl stamps and had great fun water colouring them  this weekend.

The background has been made with distress inks and loads of spray ink.

One of the new ones that came this week. Water coloured and a little glitter glue added.

 Mounted onto Kasercraft paper.

Each set of stamps has at least three other co ordinating stamps to go with it.

I love the flowers that came with this one.

Water coloured again, I added some liquid pearls.

Here she is with silver grey hair.

I used some kaisercraft glossy embossed paper and coloured it with distress inks.

Back to the original one with different colours.

 With Kraft papers.

I have one more to show you - next time.

It's been a while since I joined in with the deskers and I missed the big "400" anniversary - poo. 😢
Mostly due to too much other stuff going on and winter - ugg! I always have more energy in the spring and summer.
Anyway, my desk is a mess and I still haven't sorted out how to do two crafts at once so this needs to be tidied away so I can play with new stamps.

Parts of three necklaces being made - I need some silver chain to finish them off. The bottom one is Amethyst, red quartz and emeralds. The middle is rainbow moonstone, pearls and mystic coated quartz. The top is pearls and opals.

Reading my daughters craft mag a few weeks ago, I saw an article using one of the Wonky Tonk girl stamps and a new one arrived this week ( I have three of the four - so one more to order 😉). There are a couple of cards I made from two one my previous post.
The little fairy is from stamping Bella and will be part of a Valentines card.
Hopefully I will be able to play along next week too.
for those of you who haven't a clue of what I am talking about - pop over to see Julia's Blog where all the details of the weekly "hop" are and do join in .
