The Retreat Creations - Part one

The ATDML retreat could not have come at a better time! I had been stressed with work and home- stuck in the house over half term while we were having the bathroom redone( of course there were loads of problems) and my mojo for creating pages had left the building!
On arriving at my workplace at the gorgeous Stoke By Nayland Hotel nr Colchester, I found a big goodie bag filled with all sorts of yummy stash including this page kit . I got to it straight away. The page was designed By Mel Hand (from ATDML) and uses Crate papers.

There was a 12 x 12 page of Chipboard stickers included as well - I still have loads left. The page is of  Megan my youngest Daughter messing about while I was trying to get a shot.

My first class was taught by Katherine Sutton and uses the gorgeous Kaiser craft "Time machine" pages. Katherine showed us how to gild using gilding flakes - something I had not done before. I really loved the effect .

I stamped with the glue and then rubbed on chocolate box gilding flakes.

We also did a bit of spritzing.

This was the main page in the class and we stamped over the background randomly- I used a Swiss dot stamp and once again added chocolate box gilding flakes .

I love Katherine's classes as she doesn't "do" neat and tidy too often and we get to distress and rip up the papers.

I added the flakes to a couple of chipboard stars too . The page is of My eldest daughter , Natalie at her 30th Birthday party in April this year - this photo was taken by my sister Annette.

This class was taught by a dear friend Karen Moss and uses Dear Lizzy documentary papers and a sheet of Kaisercraft bloom resist card which we sprayed with various colours and then polished the extra off. Each page was then unique.

I love this photo of Natalie at her 30th party . The photographs were taken by my BIL and sister.

The butterfly was created by pressing watercolour card into the sprayed inks while they were still wet on the page and then cut out with a die.

This class I completed at home and although it looks complicated, was quite easy to do. (The instructions were fab!) . I find that people either Love or Hate Graphic 45 and I love it! I enjoy all the fussy cutting although our teachers - ( Lizzy and Jez from ATDML) had already punched out all those roof tiles for us so we could get started.

This was a fun class and I hope they will be teaching again at the next retreat.

I love the little egg peeking out .

I used a punch and die cuts for the flowers and leaves.

Well that a little peek of a few pages - I have a few more to show and a few to finish off ...ohh ..and I managed to buy a few sheets of paper ....

...who could resist!
My mojo is raring to go ..if only i didn't have to do laundry and cook and go to work!

  4. Morning, Sue,
Great memories for you. I never seem to do anything worthy of being saved in a scrapbook :(. I simply LOVE your bird box. How proud you must be with the finished project. I would be thrilled to have made something half as good as that. Well done, you :)
