A Different Kind of Blog Hop
My Fab Design team mate Linda from Scrapology, asked me if I would like to take part in a blog hop with a difference.
Firstly let me link you to Linda's Blog and the answers she gave to the set of questions we all have. I am sure you will be inspired by her blog and will be back for a return visit very often as I am.
The idea is that I post, then link friends at the bottom of my post and they in turn do the same but NEXT week - I think it is a great idea as I LOVE blog hopping , especially if it leads to new blogs that I might not have seen before.
Please note that there are quite a few links in this post - DO click on them as they will take to to Challenge blogs, Bloggers AND shops :).
Anyway here goes with the questions:
What am I working on?
I always have a long list of projects to do. Currently I run the Sweet Pea Stampers Challenge blog and we have a Card Challenge every two weeks- I do TRY to make a card for every challenge.
I Love the sweet pea stamps ( rubber or digital) so it's not too hard :)
I also provide a card (or project ) for Dilly Beans every two weeks and am working of next weeks right now ( can't show you though !)
This is an ATC from earlier in the year.
I also provide a card and a layout each month for Scrapology - that's six projects a month.

I work full time and have three adult children all living at home with moderate learning difficulties and co-morbid disorders and one VERY understanding hubby.

If I get time, I love to experiment with new things like the Prima dollz Stamps and inchies
I have also been known to do the odd commission for friends too.

I work full time in a local high school in pastoral care -providing behaviour support and counseling.
At the moment I am covering these note pads to make them more personal and adding a few inspiring quotes inside. Pupils going though a difficult time are often encouraged to write things down - either whats bothering them or some of the good stuff. I like to make them a more personal note book, that did back fire the other week when a pupil told me that hers was too pretty to write in!!
I ALWAYS have a bag full of images ready to colour in . If I don't have much time, I can spend a few minuets colouring in during the evening after work. This image is from Aurora Wings - Do visit there are some really beautiful digital stamps.
I do also have another blog with mostly just family news and anything that's NOT craft related Here
How
does my work differ from others of its genre?
I am not sure that it does- is the short answer. I LOVE learning new things and techniques. I am constantly glued to pinterest and reading blogs to get my inspiration.
I recently found a wonderful site for hand cutting and have been cutting birds out of paper and card .
I would like to have a go at drawing my own image to cut out soon.
I am in love with Gabrielle Pollacco's style and was really excited when the last layout challenge at scrapology was to use of of her pages as inspiration.
This was my Scrapology page for June.
I am currently working on my July page and Its inspired by another of my Fav designers ..Shhhhhh.
I Loved creating all the fussy embellishments and adding the texture paste to the background.
Gabrielle has a great recipe for creating your own textured paste HERE
I have a slight addiction to buying and making masks now!
It does take me forever to make a page and that's one of the reasons that I make cards - I do make quite a few!
Why do I write/create what I
do?
I love creating anything and have always been making things. At school, Art was my favourite lesson.
I have always made cards but also dabbled in embroidery, cross stitch, sewing, painting and even made a few pieces of jewelry.
In 2003 I saw a QVC program on scrap booking and instantly became an addict. I joined UK Scrappers and a few other scrap book boards ( along with my sister - Muckyfingers ). We still manage to go to a retreat once a year together.

I suppose, if I am honest the main reason I create is because it is SO therapeutic.
While I am "creating" I am completely "in the zone" and nothing else matters.
Making things has got me though some pretty rough times.
I can remember my first Mothers Day without Mum, initially I was upset and cross to see all the mothers day cards everywhere, but ended up making a page to honour her .
Losing my Son Cavell, My mum and dad and sister Steph has been so hard. I have made pages of all of them over the years. I have only managed one of Cav so far (below) Photo taken 28 yrs ago.
This is one of my favs.

How does your writing/creating process work?
I am lucky enough that my family allow me to take over the dinning room and our large table is completely full of my "stuff".
What a mess!
I have to say that I do mostly work in a dreadful mess. I am about to completely re decorate and re organize my (dining ) craft room hoping that I can be more tidy.
I am trying to use up supplies but I have to say , I get so excited when new papers come out. At the moment Graphic 45 and Maja design are my favs. I am also amassing a large collection of dies and I LOVE my Ebosser.
I love that Scrapology provide me with a sketch each month as that really helps me to get started. I find that's the hardest bit - getting started. Once I have started , My page/card/project just evolves- Its how I cook too.
