And now for something completely different

 I bought some Japanese folding squares from Amazon ( the cheapest place i could find them) 

and found THIS fab site that has very simple instructions on how to make   Kusudama flower balls.

 Here is half of one. Six flowers , made from five petals, joined together- I have another half to make before I join both together to make the ball. 

I shall pop back later in the week to show you the completed thing.
