Michelles Inspiration Interrogation no. 4

The purpose of these five questions is to hopefully provide a bit of inspiration for a layout, mini album or home project.....or it's just a bit of fun.
Here are the questions and my answers:
1. What's the oldest item of clothing in your wardrobe that you still wear? And how old is it?
Not that old as I used to be reasonably slim! A next black skirt for work- probably about 7 yrs old.

2. What's the last film you saw at the cinema? And when?
I hardly ever get to the cinema- I am sure I have been but not this year- I think the last was "The best of Me" a Nickolas Sparks film last year sometime with Hubby.

3. What was your favourite childhood meal?
My mum was not renowned for her cooking skills, so it was probably a rare meal out . I liked wimpy  meals and if was a treat to go. I was quite a fussy eater too.
4. What TV show have you watched more than any other?
We have become box set fanatics in this house as we can watch at weird times, so don't tend to watch much a regular times. I DO HAVE to watch Casualty on a Saturday night ( as have watched from the beginning) My all time fav that should never be missed is Greys Anatomy but it is on a break at the mo.

5. Halloween Humbug or Fright Fan?
Neither really - any reason to party is good. Difficult when my children were younger as Dan has ADHD ( too much sugar - not good) , Meg is type 1 diabetic ( Too much sugar- not good!) and poor Nats is over weight and I don't like too much sugar around. Having said that, they were always ( and still are) happy to hand it out to callers even though they couldn't have it. For the last few years I have been at a retreat around Halloween and will be this year.

For those of you up for this little exercise there's an added incentive of a crafty prize to one lucky linker. The winner will be drawn on the 16th November, so you have time to get your post linked to Michelles blog HERE.

Well this week quite a bit of my stash is packed for a retreat on Friday . YAYYYY I have been waiting for ages for this. A weekend at Stoke By Nayland "A Trip Down Memory Lane" retreat.
I am on half term this week but although I have the time to create, I have loads of workmen in doing the bathroom so its a chaotic here. I am trying to clear the garden too ( I don't do winter gardening - not great at Autumn gardening either!) I like it to be very sunny and warm and not wet, dark and muddy.
Anyway back to the desk, To the far left, another page in my art journal ( see yesterdays post for details). I bought some really cheap (£3) water colour paints from Tiger a few weeks ago, so I wanted to try them out. There are 4 layers x6 = 24 watercolours. I quite like them and they don't take up much room -bonus! I have also made another mosaic mat using the Tim Holtz kit, I use a couple of those coasters that come in the post from charities that we give to.

Getting the hang of this

There are no rules in art journal ling and you just play until you like what you see( or not) .
I still don't like my hand writing much though ..I must get out that " love your handwriting" book i bought years ago and practise!

I have a box full of chipboard shapes that I "just had to have" , some are quite old.
I gessos the page and shapes and then painted with white acrylic pain. The shapes were stenciled with distress ink and then sealed with glitter paint.

I used distress paint and ink on the background and spritzed with water and inks.

I also added some liquid pearls.

The sun has come out so I am off to do some gardening.

A New Journal Page

I started this one a week ago and finally got to finish it tonight.
I used some pearlized acrylic paints. The heart was pare pieced and then painted over.
I used a hand cut stencil for the embossing paste and then a dotty stamp.

The butterflies were stamped, cut out and painted with twinkling H20 paints.

I also managed to have a play with the new Tim Holtz mosaic kit and managed to stick my thumb in a wet tile! Mr Holtz it takes longer than 40 mins to dry! I shall leave it over night before I ink the grout.

More "Boy" cards

I needed to make some more male birthday cards. I have been using pinterset to get my ideas. This one is all mine though . I used up some VERY old papers.

 A couple of gems

And stickles over a die cut sentiment.

Same card - different ( possibly even older ) papers.

This time I added liquid pearls to the dots.

I inked all the edges with mahogany distress stain.

I found the inspiration for this one from pinterest.

A lovely simple card - I still like the original better.

How fab is this. The lady who made it has a blog HERE

Pinterest inspired "Boy Card"

As always when I "copy" anything on Pinterest , I LOVE the original much more- My card is a bit too noisy. I do have to say that it does look better IRL but next time I will use a few plainer patterns as well as the GORGEOUS Graphic 45.

This is the original - I was going to put a link to the users site but this was uploaded with no link - shame. Its FAB!!

I should have popped those banners onto 3D foam.

As I said earlier this week , I have hardly any "Boy" cards , so am going to put that right and as I am not in a colouring mood, it will be these type of cards.
I'll will be back will more hopefully once I have done some dreaded housework.

Playing with Prima oil pastels

I bought some of the new prima watercolour tags to try the oil pastels out on .
This one just uses the pastels the same way as watercolours. I scribbled a little colour onto a piece of acetate and added water to pain with . I used a gold metallic pentel brush for the middle frame.

On this tag I coloured directly onto the tag and added a little water to oil pastel afterwards.

This tag did not turn out at all like it was supposed to. I coloured with bright multi colours randomly and then went over the whole tag with black.. I added a stencil and wiped off the black pastel with a baby wipe but unfortunately also wiped off the colour underneath..ohh well ..I still like it .

October Art Journal Challenge

Over at Jennibellie's Journal workshop, the challenge for October is " What are you afraid to do in your Journal?"
Jennie has a video with an example and I have followed it almost word for word. I am quite new to art Journalling so, most of it is new to me. I liked the Idea of making myself from a collage of p papers.

I first wrote words in black water colour pencil that describe the bad, dark parts of me . I put 5 on each page and then added water, paint , stencills and flower stamps.

I dotted some white paint and spritzed some glitter spray.
The symbols represent me at home and at work- keeping the peace .

I have red cheeks and I even managed to add my glasses and grey hair

So..the bad parts of me that I want to keep hidden ..probably very similar to most peoples, some I am working on others i can't/wont change and some can wait.
If you woul;d like to join in , pop over to the Blog .
Have a great week .

Uk Halloween Tag Swap

I have been joining in with a monthly tag swap over at UKS.
For the month of October, we are of course doing Halloween as the theme. The challenge is to create three tags to post off for swapping.

I used the Tim Holtz tag die to cut out my three tags.
The background is created by smudging distress ink ( twisted citron, spiced marmalade and seedless preserves) . I have used black soot ink with various stencils.
The tree. RIP and crooked house are cut with my slice.

The spider webs are drawn with dove craft pearl effect in black. The spiders are from Tescos with a red gem added.

I also tapped on some white dylusions spray.

I really enjoyed making these.

October - Tim Tag - Halloween

This months tag

I have to say that I love the Tag Tim Holtz made this month but I don't own the die he used and I am not sure I would use it that much.
I design for Dilly Beans Digital stamps and own quite a few.
I don't think I have used this one before. I printed it out four times and coloured it in with copic pens, cut it out and layered it up.

The wings have been "painted" with some Liquid dove craft 3D pearl effect paint- Its not as nice as liquid pearls but I quite like the "Blobby" effect.

The spider is from a bag of 50 (i think) from Tescos- I added a red gem.

The eyes and tiny heart have been layered up and glossy accents added.

The "Boo" was cut using my slice and then inked with distress ink - black soot and twisted citron. I added glossy accents and some distress stickles.

The background paper was from years ago found in my paper stash.

If you would like to join in this month with the tag challenge ( who wouldn't!) the link is HERE
