Whimsical Designs "Give Thanks" Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Whimsical Designs “Give Thanks” Blog Hop. You should have arrived here from Leah.If you need to start from the beginning of the hop, head on over to Whimsical Designs blog.

For My Project I wanted to make an exploding box.
There is a Wonderful blog with lots of these type of boxes (called Magic Boxes HERE)
Mine is based on Autumn Leaves and you start off with a 9" square of card and scored at 3 and 6 inches on both sides, cut out the corners (as in the photo below) Each folded square is then 3 inches.

I have coverd both sides of the box with card ans paper slightly smaller than 3 inches (the yellow squares are 2 3/4 inches and the p paper is 2 1/2 inches). Stuck down with a wet glue and left to dry under something heavy so it doesnt warp.

I embossed all the edges of the box first with gold embossing powder.

I went to town with my die cutting machine and cut out lots of leaves in different "Autumn " colours and inked them up.

I stuck the leaves both inside and the outside of the box.

To make the lid, I cut some card intro 3 3/4 square and scored at 1/2 inch all the way round, I scored diagonally at the corners and folded and glued them in .

The base of the inside of the box is a 3 inch square ( you MAY need to cut a tiny amount off to fit) and covered the same way as the sides.
I randomly cut four slits into the corners ( as in the photo) and fed a thin strip of acetate ( cut from packaging) though and secured it underneath.

This is the underneath. I secured the base and the acetate strips with that tacky red tape.

This was then glued to the bottom of the inside of the box.

I decorated the top of the box with the card and paper and also embossed all the edges again.
I wanted to pop some berries on along with the leaves and flowers . I found the stems in my stash and coloured in the "stalk" with a green pen and glued on some tiny black seed beads ( Mine came from pound land are are meant to be stuck onto nails)
I also stuck some on in red too.

I cut out paper flowers and coloured them in to match my colour scheme but you could use any paper flowers. I added stickles glitter glue to some of the leaves.

And more berries to other panels.

I glued leaves and butterflies to the strips of acetate and added glitter.
This is what it looks like open
